5 Tips for Migrating Existing Line of Business Applications to Microsoft Teams

It’s no secret that Microsoft Teams is a great place to chat, meet, and collaborate. As the fastest growing business App in Microsoft’s history, users everywhere are discovering that they can work more effectively within Teams.

As people spend more and more time working in Teams, switching out to other applications becomes more of an overhead. Application context-switching is disruptive to flow, can impact productivity and take time. The more information that can be brought into Teams and presented to users when they need it, alongside the conversations they are having, the more empowered users are. Microsoft Teams has a rich development platform with many ways to extend and enhance the core experience. The great news is that you don’t have to be an experienced platform developer to take advantage of many of these; there are plenty of no-code and low-code solutions that are available.

In this 30-minute session, I talk about my top 5 tips for taking existing Line of Business (LOB) applications and migrating them to Microsoft Teams. The tips are aimed at several different audiences: IT Pros will love the way you can post directly to Teams with PowerShell, business leaders and architects will appreciate how quickly concept bots can be created without needing to write a line of code, and developers who don’t have experience coding against the Microsoft Teams Development Platform will be able to immerse themselves in sample code and best practice approaches.

For each of the tips I outline who they’re aimed at, explain the problem they solve and what types of LOB applications they would be well suited to, and then demo how to use them and what they look like. At the end I outline all the links I’ve referenced in one place so that it’s easy to pick a tip, find out more and then implement it.

The data is clear. Users are moving to Microsoft Teams and spending more of their working day collaborating with each other. By making Teams the operating system for “getting stuff done” and surfacing information they need alongside their conversations and meetings, organizations can empower their workforce to do more, and in doing so will reap the benefits of the Modern Workplace.
